At MCA6, any student who has not achieved grade 4 in their GCSE Mathematics is provided with the opportunity and support to retake this qualification. Students are taught in a small group and the teacher focuses on the areas each individual needs to improve so that lesson time is really productive.

The course is studied over a full year with 2 lessons per week provided by the Maths department. There is also an on-line learning platform, Dynamic Learning, that students can use to study independently.

  • Algebra
  • Ratio & Proportion
  • Geometry & Measures
  • Probability & Statistics

 

Qualification: The syllabus that we follow is the AQA GCSE Maths course, syllabus number 8300. You will achieve a GCSE in Mathematics, with grades from 9-1.

Entry requirements: Grade 3 or below in GCSE Mathematics

Assessment: You will have 3 papers to sit for your GCSE Maths exam; Paper 1 – 1 hour 30 minutes (non-calculator), Paper 2 – 1 hour 30 minutes (calculator allowed) and Paper 3 – 1 hour 30 minutes (calculator allowed)

Progression Route: University, apprenticeship or employment in all sectors.
